The Diocese of Dallas is launching a year-long initiative to promote the observance of the Golden Rule in our relationship with others, in particular with immigrants. Bishop Burns will announce this initiative, called #BeGolden, jointly with Mayor Mike Rawlings and other faith and local government leaders this weekend. The purpose of the year-long campaign is to remind area residents to treat each other as they want to be treated, historically known as the Golden Rule. While the campaign aims to inspire kind treatment of all people, it begins with a focus on immigrants. #BEGOLDEN encourages people to gain a better understanding of why immigrants fled their homeland to come to this country and how we can all work to treat these residents with more dignity and kindness...Click title to read more

"Yam Jam" on Oct. 14, 2017 - 61 volunteers made their way to Alba, TX to help "glean" sweet potatoes for food banks and food pantries in east and north Texas, as part of ongoing efforts organized by Helping Hands Gleaning Ministry - whose mission is to connect growers and suppliers of food with those in need! We collected 8,400 pounds of sweet potatoes!!! Gleaning is biblical... "When you reap the harvest in your field and overlook a sheaf there, you shall not go back to get it; let it be fore the alien, the orphan or the widow, that the Lord, your God, may bless you in all your undertakings." Deuteronomy 24:19 Check out pics in the Yam Jam photo album!
